EGAY YAP - ACE BIRDS PIGEON PHOTOGRAPHY SLIDESHOW

There is a new idol in the Philippine pigeon sport. At 28 years of age, Edgar Yap, fondly called "Egay" has accomplished some interesting results in his pigeon racing career. He flies and competes with the best from the Philippine Homing Pigeons Association, and lately during the past three seasons, he has beaten some of the big names in the sport. But through all the glitz and glamor of winning, he remains to be humble about his achievements. He believes in teamwork and chemistry amongst his loft manager (Edward), trainer (JoJo) and loft keepers (Puruntong & Mac Mac). He treats his personnel as equals, and he treats them equally without any prejudice or favoritism, in short, he not only keeps his pigeons motivated, but also his team of pigeon men.

It is without a doubt that the achievements that he made are almost always an envy to many due to the fact that he achieved it in such a short span of time. He started racing in 2005, and just like any beginner, he flew a bad season after another season just learning the sport. And finally in 2008, he was able to accomplish some good results in the North and South races. During the MacArthur race , his name was in the airwaves, as his bird "Mestiza" won the Championship for the prized flight, a marathon race of about 640 kms. This is the ultimate race for the long distance as this is a 2 day race. And during the north race, his "White Eddie" was a Millenium Band winner during the 2008 North Young Birds Race. Most recently, the concluded North 2009 Season proved to be a big blast, he further beat and accomplished a new record by winning several Millenium Band, Super Set Band and Auction Band category winners.

As for his opinion in winning, he simply states that good luck, good birds and good system are the keys to achieving a win, but sometimes you win sometimes you lose, he doesn't expect to win every time, but he always hopes for the best. He is also very active in helping beginners to get started in the sport lately by pledging to sell some youngsters out of his winning birds late this summer. This is an act of kindness indeed and also a gesture of friendship to promote the pigeon sport in the Philippines.
